Because it's beautiful.

Last week several of my books on childbirthing and breastfeeding came in the mail. I ordered them in hopes that I make some progress on getting certified as a birth doula (maybe sometime in the next two-ish years).

I started on Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth.

I'm almost done with it (it was hard putting it down, but you have to sleep at some point). I read through it hungrily.

I love it. I'm in love with the knowledge that birth is something beautiful and painful and real. It's (obviously) life-altering and amazing. And it's empowering. For some women, it can be orgasmic.

It's not something to be afraid of.

And realizing how in touch with my cycle I've become, I can't wait to experience it.

I KNOW, right? Getting excited about labor? Sure, maybe I'm crazy. But I can't wait to understand and experience something that profound and PHYSICAL.

I can't wait to see what I'm capable of.
